What Is the Function of the Foot Valve?

As a key component at the pump inlet, the foot valve has the core function of preventing water backflow, ensuring that the pump inlet is continuously filled with liquid, saving energy and preventing blockage. Specifically:

1. Backflow protection: The foot valve can effectively prevent the injected liquid from flowing back to the water source when the pump is not running, avoiding system instability and pump operation failure caused by this.

2. Liquid pre-filling: Before the pump is started, the valve disc of the foot valve is in a closed state due to its own gravity, ensuring that the pump inlet is filled with liquid and providing stable suction conditions for the pump. Once the pump starts running, the negative pressure in the suction pipe will cause the foot valve disc to open, allowing the liquid to enter the pump body smoothly.

3. Energy optimization: The special design of the foot valve ensures that the liquid in the water pump pipe can only flow in one direction, preventing the backflow of liquid, thereby achieving effective utilization and saving of energy.

4. Anti-blocking: The valve cover of the foot valve is designed with multiple water inlets and reinforcement ribs. This structure makes the foot valve less likely to be blocked during the pumping process, ensuring smooth water flow and stable operation of the pump.

These functions of the foot valve make it an indispensable part of fluid equipment such as centrifugal pumps, which is of great significance for ensuring the normal operation of the system and extending the service life of the equipment.
